NRA releases statement on Conn. shooting

USA Today  —  The National Rifle Association has put out a statement saying it is “prepared to offer meaningful contributions” to prevent more violence like that which occurred in Newtown, Conn., last week.  The organization said it will hold a news conference in the Washington, D.C., area on Friday.

The statement reads:

“The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

“Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

“The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

“The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

“Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time.”

Smart. And as I had been telling people on Facebook. The NRA was not ‘unnerved’ as some had suggested, after the horrific shooting. They simply pulled back and refused to engage the argument. It was not appropriate. They shut down their Facebook page and social media because there was no reason to give hateful anti-gun rights nuts the space or time to blast them during this time of mourning. But like an armed citizen, the NRA is ready and able to come out against the social democrats and mow down their idiotic crap about guns and using guns safely. People like Michael Bloomberg have had a free ride for a time, and I hope they’ve enjoyed themselves. The NRA is on the job now though, so Bloomberg et. al. are going to rue the day. You want to have this argument Michael and the rest of you? Let’s do it.
