A Michigan man charged with phoning in a bomb threat to the Louisiana Superdome during the New Orleans Saints’ playoff win over the Detroit Lions in January has pleaded guilty.
Shawn Payton, of Jackson, Mich., pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Detroit to a felony count of transmitting threats to injure in interstate communications.
Payton called in the hoax threats from his home in Jackson, Mich., in an attempt to halt the Jan. 7 game, which the Saints went on to win 45-28, after finding a contact for the Superdome reception desk on the internet.
